is it really the mkv files the problems?

because it all plays well with my samsung series 6 LED tv
i play it directly with my led tv through my portable harddrive via usb connection
    and it plays well
just connect the usb cable with the tv select the desired movie and the tv will play on his own

    i wonder why
im using an msi fx420 laptop and windows 7 ultimate

when it comes to other movies or media plays i dont encounter such problem even watching videos through the internet and even music
i dont have problem with it
    only HD files

i don't know if this may help...
what is the default player for mkv files? is it the VLC player? the latest version?
try play it with Windows Media Player by right click the mkv files and select Open with - Windows Media Player.
VLC player does not depends other third parties codec packs. if VLC player is the problem, you should be able to hear audios from MKV files under Windows Media Player because you are using mega codecs from Sharky's007.

i guess your best bet is start over from scratch to fix any issues on messed/broken codecs if there are any.
try uninstall everything(VLC, DivX, codec packs) and start over again.

forget my above post.. instead go to msi website and update your fx420 laptop with the latest Realtek HD audio driver release date 5/16/2011 i think this one will nail your problem.

Hotwire Codec Bundle is a free and slim software bundle which unites the most popular audio and video codecs.

Codecs are essential when using Hotwire Movie Player or any other multimedia player to play encoded media types like DivX, XViD, OGG and others.

Hotwire Codec Bundle is targeted to users that wish to play encoded media (decoder). It does not include video encoders used to compress video files.

Here are some key features of "Hotwire Codec Bundle":

    · Small and Lightweight - Only includes the major codecs that are most frequently used.
    · Contains the following codecs:
    · DivX 5.2.1 (Supports DivX 3,4 and 5 encoded avi video)
    · XviD Decoder 1.0-Beta3 (Supports XviD encoded avi video)
    · Elecard MPEG2 Demultiplexer (Required for MPEG2 playback)
    · Ligos MPEG Video Decoder (Supports MPEG 1 and 2 video)
    · Ogg Directshow Decoder (Supports Ogg Vorbis audio)
    · CD Audio Reader Filter (Supports digital playback of audio CDs - Win 2K, XP only)
