it has been around 5 years that i have been away on my hometown bacolod city
i have going back here every 3 or 4 months and i could always see a big progress on my hometown everytime i come home.

nice update gab2 sa flyover. to tell you frankly the flyover construction was really nice compared to the construction of the flyover sa talamban. just looking at the pix of the flyover construction, nindot ang design og wala ni gi barat sa gobyerno ang budget.

i just hope that they will not construct anymore a flyover somewhere in the near future after this one coz our city has very very wide roads and very organized urban planning of roads compared to cebu na perteng gamaya sa dalan og walay klaro asa ang lahos. atoang main road tig 4-6 lanes mas lapad pa sa highway sa cebu. saonz

ang ganahan jud nko sa bacolod coz d ka masaag ky ky ang mga dalan parrallel og perpendicular lang
just imagine lang ang mga dalan ky murag tiles sa banyo mo. even kaau ang distance og blocks ky perfect square jud.

Actually they are expanding the road in that area...bisag naay fly over 2 lanes gihapon ang sa ubos northbound and southbound... they are currently adding one more lane each as well sa road going to Banago. from 2 lanes to 4 lanes then sa area na duol sa fly over mag 6lanes na...

Instead of 4 lanes 3 lanes nalang. Kung pahawaon gani sila pa may gana na masuko.

I'm against with the 2nd Flyover in Magsaysay Street. Fly over is not the solution. Strict implementation of traffic rules, discipline and political will ra jud ang answer diha.. kung naay flyover diha sus pagkabati kaayu tan-awon. Mas okay na ang sa Bangga Pepsi kay bagay jud.. Murag South Luzon Express Way. Suki kaayu sa drag race ang highway diha up to Silay City.

Planning stage pa sa karon ang circumferential road na himuong 4 lanes.

Hmmmn.... Yes I've been there but I don't want to compare..
Bacolod City was planned well around 70's or 80's but I forgot the name of the city planner... Cebu streets were patterned to European Cities especially Spain, same with Iloilo I think.

Illegal squatters in Bacolod were transferred to relocation sites and streets were cleared especially at the back of provincial Capitol building where SM Prime holding is interested to put up a 2 hotels and a convention center.

Proper zoning jud with the cooperation of the city and the province. Sugarcane plantations are converted into residential areas (subdivisions and relocation sites for squatters).

SM to invest P2.5 billion in Bacolod

    By Teresa Ellera-Dulla

    Wednesday, May 11, 2011

SM PRIME Holdings Inc. intends to build two 200-room hotels and a convention center at the Provincial Government’s six-hectare property at the back of the Provincial Capitol building and the area in front of the Hall of Justice.

Hans Sy, SM Prime Holdings president, personally submitted Tuesday to Governor Alfredo Maraņon Jr. the company’s proposal.

The investment is worth P2.5 billion, according to Sy, who brought along his key technical, financial and legal team during his visit to the governor.

He said the convention center that they are planning to build in the city is about 10 percent of the size of SMX in Manila.

SM Prime is also mulling the construction in the same area of a 200-room hotel and then another hotel with the same number of rooms.

The two hotels will be surrounded by commercial buildings, Sy revealed.

“We are looking for an area of six and a half hectares. I brought the architect, legal and financial team and the contractor to show our commitment and seriousness about the project,” Sy explained.

He assured Negrenses that the sale of the property will go through the normal bidding process.

Proceeds from the sale of the said Provincial Government property will be used for relocation of some Provincial Government agencies, according to Maraņon.

On the other hand, when asked about the possibility to his partnering with SM Prime Holdings on the project, Benitez said he will first take a look at its viability and feasibility of the project.

For his part, Sy said Bacolod has the economic capacity for the viability of such hotels and convention center.

“This is based on the result of our mall here.
The mall is doing well. All our malls are doing very well,” Sy declared.

He added the performance of the Bacolod mall is above average.

“In fact, we have plans to expand it. We will eventually launch it, once it’s finalized. It could be about 40-meter expansion sideways and upward,” he said.
