Students from the A&M University managed to develop a new touchscreen and named it ZeroTouch.
The touchscreen is expected to be officially unveiled at the Computer Human Interaction (CHI) conference that will take place in Vancouver.
According to Jonathan Moeller, a research analyst in the university's Interface Ecology Lab the new device represents a picture frame where they can shoot thousands of light beams and spot anything that crosses the frame.
Having 256 infrared sensors, the frame can be directly connected to a computer. The device is installed over a custom computer screen, which transforms it into a multitouch surface.
For example, if the user wishes to choose colors on the screen with the help of the iPhone, they simply need to place their finger on the screen and the drawing will start appearing on it.
Besides, when the screen is suspended the user has the possibility to paint a virtual canvas
