halo scorpia, im really new in this hobby and on to planted aquariums ang, my question is, how can i make my own substrate that is not costly and effective, cuz i made one with a complete ferilizer N-14,P-14,K-14. what happened was my fish died and some of my plants also died. i really need some help on doing this right. thank you

i started it as a garden soil, 1 sack sagulan nako og pebbles then pinakaubos na layer ni covered with fine sand (inayag). bought root fertilizer for stem plants(optional since naa na nutrients ang garden soil). added plants and filled the tank with water. here's some additional infos below:

Tank size: 12 Gal
Lighting: 2x20w T4 CFL 6500K, 8hours per day (after 4weeks, 10hours per day)
Co2: Pressurized 1Bps
Water change: 25% twice a week (after 3 weeks, once a week)
Fert/Suppliments: API Root tabs for stem plants.

Is anyone exploring the native freshwater crabs and shrimps of Cebu? Naa bay attempts to breed them in captivity? Interested ko in breeding and keeping them in captivity Kay degraded na kaayo atong forests. There might be undescribed species waiting to be discovered. : )
