Naa nay benchmarks ang HD 3850 / HD 3870 and HD 3870 X2?

I'm curious how it stacks up against 8800GT.

a $200 card that performs on par with 8800GT would be nice for xmas.

HD 3850 is supposed to be priced at $170-190 USD and HD 3870 is priced at $200-230 USD. this means that this cards would be cheaper than the 8800GT... then nvidia might be tempted to bring the prices of their 8800gt down... hehehe

but don't expect that HD 3850/3870 will run faster than the 8800GT... because amd predicted it to run as fast as the 2900xt yet cooler than and has lesser power consumption than the 2900xt. but we already know, 2900xt performs slower than the 8800GT

If the HD3870 is just as fast as the 2900XT (w/c is a bit slower than the old 8800GTS 640mb..) I fear for AMD/ATI because Nvidia is gonna release the new 8800GTS which will probably be as fast or faster than the 8800GTX.

It's curtains for AMD if Nvidia decide to lower the 8800GT to $200. The only problem Nvidia has now is availability of 8800GT w/c has sold out all over and raised prices to $249-279 due to the demand.

I'm still waiting for Mid November to get the benchmarks though... AMD may have something up its sleeve... HD3870 X2 is also something to ponder about.

Radeon HD 3850/70 might have issues with Intel P35 chipset mainboards

According to some early testers of the 3850 and 3870, users encounter random freezes of the screen or no boot. This seems only to happen on the Intel P35 chipset and not on the X38 chipset.

Another observation is that such problem only arise when the FSB is raised beyond 1066. The early tester tested one on MSI P35 board and tells us that the issue is very apparent. Sometimes, the driver can't be recognised and the system will not allow you to reinstall the catalyst driver.

Radeon HD 3850 and HD 3870 will launch next week. If you intend to purchase one and pair it up with a P35 chipset mainboard, i hope you won't be pulling off your hair with weird issues during the overclocking of your CPU. It will probably require a firmware fix or driver update to solve these strange issues during overclocking.

AMD will launch Radeon 3850 and 3870 on 15/Nov/07 12:01pm Beijing time

    15th Nov 2007 12:01am EST or 12:01pm Beijing time

AMD will launch the Radeon HD 3800 series on the 15 Nov while the Spider platform (inclusive of AMD CPU and Chipsets) is scheduled for the 20th November.

That means that next week, we shall be seeing reviews popping out from Asia region first before the other parts of the world.

The embargo time has not changed as suggested by some other sites. It is still 15th Nov 2007 12:01pm Beijing time and not on evening of 14th.
