Yesterday Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots. The latest edition of the franchise is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal with the support of Ubisoft Toronto and Red Storm for a 2013 release date on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

The game will revolve around a single-player storyline that "captures the reality of modern-day terrorism and allows players to experience it from multiple characters’ perspectives." Trust me when I say the collective G4 editorial staff found this footage insanely awesome.

“Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6," said David Sears, creative director at Ubisoft. "In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction.” He continues, “This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience.”

Team Rainbow will face a threat called the "True Patriots", a highly-trained, well-organized group that believe the American government is corrupt. These True Patriots "will do whatever it takes to reclaim their country." As a member of Team Rainbow, you'll face tough ethical decisions in order to stop these terrorists.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots will also feature co-op and multiplayer experiences. These modes will test your communication and tactical execution skills between teammates.

I have to admit that I'm not too familiar with the Rainbow 6 franchise as a whole, but just seeing the test footage of the new game gets me really hyped up. Touch ethical decisions on the fly isn't really something that we're used to seeing in first-person shooters today and if they all work like they do in that video, this game is going to help elevate the genre to new heights.

In addition to the immersive single-player storyline, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots will introduce a huge variety of new innovative co-op and multi-player experiences. Players will be rewarded for working as a team and mastering the game’s new features that enhance communication and tactical execution between teammates. Success will come from a mix of split-second decision making and working to coordinate attacks against the enemy.

Rainbow Six: Patriots is Still in Development, Ubisoft Confirms | EGMNOW



Ubisoft has confirmed that Rainbow Six: Patriots is still in development, despite the publisher remaining silent about the title over the last few months.

“It’s an important franchise for Ubisoft. We want to make sure, on this one, like all the other games we’re working on, that we bring it when we feel it’s perfect,” executive director Alain Corre told IGN when asked about the title. “What we want is to have a compelling story. We want people who play the next Rainbow 6 to be astonished, to be very pleased with what they see.”

He went on to state that Ubisoft wants to make “something worth waiting for.”
