Anybody here has a hosting account with hostgator?
How's the speed? Any reference to a wordpress website hosted with hostgator?

Our site is hosted on HostGator Mushroom Multimedia - The best idea sprouts here. (Warning: not a blog site ^___^)

At first I would have went directly to Media Temple to host our website. Figuring that since our website is flash intensive and kinda sucker for mega huge arse bandwidth. But with all the recession and sh*t, we decided to go for cheap offers. And thats how we end up with HostGator.

So far, they seem to deliver what they offer... unlimited bandwidth and stuff. Really cool host, had no problems with them so far. Well, at first it was kinda mind boggling how to fix the mx etnries for our email, coz we host our own email server here and our previous old web server (and i mean old). But after we fixed the mx entries and stuff everything was smooth sailing.

depends really on your connection... so far the site loads around 5 seconds. given that the rest of the site are streamed. i'm on 10mbps connection btw.

As you can see the website is fairly new...

Thanks for the info. I also have about 12mbps, and one of my current host is VERY fast in serving the pages, but has also lots of downtime. Another host of mine has no downtime at all, but it horrible slow.

Example: The fast host creates my WP main page with 41 queries in 0.088s, the other take about 3-4 seconds for the same 41 queries.

What I am looking for is a host which serves the PHP pages fast, and has little downtime, and some recommended me hostgator, some said its no good...

I've tried Hostgator a long time ago, I switched to a new host because of their very confusing control panel, and their customer support sucks. Some like them a lot though, for reasons I do not know. Speed-wise, it's okay.

Also, I always prefer hosts with humble packages than those sucky ones offering unlimited or massive packages (hostgator one of them lol).

    2 cents.

although im not saying that i love them (hostgator) lol...

it's just that they seem to deliver what was advertised... and it's quite impressive.

anyway, i do hope that they can hold on to their claims a lot while longer though. or else we would move to media temple plain and simple.
