Needs Lens Advice

Hi guys,

I'm a photography newbie and I badly need some advice about lenses. I have a Nikon D3100 with the 18-55 kit lens. However, I want broaden my set with a new lens. Photography is just a hobby and I don't really want to invest on it too much, so no wallet-busting lenses for me. As of the moment I'm choosing among the following lenses and I would really appreciate some professional advice.

Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D
Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6G
Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G
Tamron AF70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2
Sigma APO 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG MACRO

I have really shaky hands so my pictures are prone to be blurry at times without a tripod and I auto focus all the time. Among the lenses above, which do you think is the best for me?

none, upgrade your skills(learn as much as you can) before you upgrade your gears in time what you need will come to you.. example cge ka shoot ug kit ron nya cge ka ma bitin let's say sa zoom to the point na ma batnayan na gud nimo then invest na ka ug zoom pero if mo invest gud ka go for gold if ma kaya para wai mahay..

Shaky hands is still a problem if you don't learn some techniques like the following below:
1) Try to hold your breath when you shoot.
2) Given a focal length, let's say 55mm. Try to achieve a shutter speed that is reciprocal to that (or higher) like 1/60s or 1/125s
3) Boost your ISO. Grainy pictures are better than blurred pictures.
4) Shoot wide open to allow more light to enter.
5) Tripod?
6) Image Stabilization/Vibration Reduction (pero useless gihapon ni if wala ka kahibaw sa first few
items above.
7) And lastly, get a fast prime lens, like the 50mm

as an example kung unsay capability sa imong 18-55mm, some of them ni agi na ug process and some of them kay straight from the camera. at least naa kay idea unsay mabuhat sa imong lens. and then try those sample shots osa para mka explore ka sa imong camera..

Nya, kahinumdum ko sa advice pa gyud ni Mike (kanang gwapo sa babaw) nga mag-pray before mag-shoot. :P

guys thanks sa mga advice. i agree na dapat pajud nko improve ako skills. but if ever i want to explore other lenses, should i go with the prime lens or zoom lens? unsa man ang kanang pwde ra walk around lens?

18-55mm is a good walk around lens. i'd suggest you try a 50mm
basin dili naka molingi sa imong 18-55mm for pila ka weeks :P

A few months from now the Nikon 50mm F1.8 G lens will be available in the market for Php12,500

or if you cant wait buy the Nikon 35mm F1.8 DX lens
