Hi guys!

This is some kind of a petition. If I get many replies and positive responses then I'll continue with this but if not then well maybe it's not worth investing into. OK on with the subejct matter:

I've been thinking of setting up a FREE website for Cebu bands and celebs sometime this August or September and I'm wondering if this concept is a CLICK with the general public. Site will/may include the following features:

- FREE membership
- All registered members can also sign up as an artist.
- Artists edit their own personalized pages.
- Photo Gallery
- Gig Calendar
- Sell tickets online
- Sell albums/Singles online
- Upload/Download artist's MP3 cuts
- Downloadable lyrics
- Artist/Album/Single rating
- Site will be funded me, myself and I and will contain a few ads for a little help on the finances.
- Ano pang gusto nyong feature?

Whatdayuhthink, eh? Any violent response or something like that?

a few years ago a website called Philmusic.com came up with the same idea. it didn't last long and became a free forum instead. Filipinos are not to keen on buying muusic online, we would rather buy our CDs the traditional way or download the mp3s. As for ads, you need the statistics to show that their ads will be seen by a wide audience.

also known bands have their own websites even their own mailing lists, why then would they want to have another one? sorry to rain on your parade but i seriously think that this website concept and the business model will not work.

i agree with pnoize2k6... if your target audience is only philippines then it aint going to be a big hit. like what pnoize said others prefer to get their music on p2p or buy them on a local music store.

if you're planning to go global, then you have to have a serious marketing arm to invest with. google's adwords is costly and seo's makes your pocket echo. to make a noticable amount of revenues through banner ads, your site must generate a hefty amount of hits.

Hi, guys! Thanks for the replies.

Actually, di naman talaga biz ang goal ko. The site I'm planning is a FREE site --- FREE to register, FREE to post, FREE to upload, FREE to download, etc and I'm expecting that this project is more of an expense than income. Occurence of the word 'SELL' actually pertains more to the artist than the site itself. They have the option to either sell or give it for free.

My main goal is to gather as much music loving Cebuanons in a same niche where we can all share a common interest and also promote something na "Sariling Atin" ba (Yes, I'm not Cebuano but I'm also a Filipino naman di ba?) Also, it may help the artists promote themselves and their talents to an audience who, most likely, can relate to the type of music they are playing. Di ba masaya? Most of all, Cebuanos should support fellow Cebuanos coz it's obvious naman na music talaga ang #1 na talent ninyo, aside from many other things, di ba?

Anyway, sana maraming sumuporta kasi talagang di na ako mapakali na makapag-start dito sa project na ito.
