Hello.
I recently decided to change my PSU from a generic 500W to a branded Silverstone ST50F-ES one. The strange thing is when I wanted to test my UPS w/ the system, the UPS wouldn't hold when I cut off the power. I switched back to the generic PSU, and my UPS would hold. Switch back to the ST50F-ES, and my PC shuts off when the power is cut. I tested the +12V line and found out that when using the ST50F-ES and on battery mode, it would drop to about only 9V when the +12V ATX (CPU) is connected (HDD and DVD-rom disconnected). With the generic, it's still 12V. Is this normal? Should I change my UPS to a higher capacity? Change the battery? Recommendations are greatly appreciated.
UPS:
APC CS 500VA (300W)
Proc: Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33Ghz w/ stock HSF
Mobo: Asus P5GC-MX
VC: Nvidia GeForce 8500GT
RAM: 2x1GB
And Generic PSU 500W (for the heck of it):
AC-Input: 115/230V 8A/4A 60/50Hz (there is a switch to change the input voltage)
DC-Output: +3.3V(28A),+5V(38A),+12V(17A),-12V(0.8A),+5VSB(2A)
XX+5VN+3.3V Total Output 500W XX+5VSB=2.0AXX
Note: I have yet to test the system on a different UPS since I don't exactly have a spare...
