Automatic Tinting Windows / Smart Windows

anyways, this was a thesis project of my group for CompE. that was around 4 years ago. we used a PIC and other assorted ICs, keypad (for manual control), a light sensor (for automatic control) and the tinting window for our prototype.

the tinting window was ordered from korea (i'm not sure now). but i'm sure it cost around Php 7k for a bondpaper sized glass with the tinting film in between. we supplied varying voltages to darken or brighten the window.

do you think this would be a good business idea? but i'm thinking this would be very expensive to have any practical use.

I think this is the one they are using at one LRT loop here in SG. Bukit Panjang LRT.
TO protect the privacy of home owners where the LRT passes by.

I read your web link. If it's heat that you are trying to block, there are a lot of products very much cheaper than this: v-kool films, ad green coat, etc. BUT for privacy, this is something new!

^^ it's not the heat, but it's the brightness or amount of light that we are trying to control. i think some luxury cars have something like this already
