House bill requires X-ray scanners in malls

After two separate shooting incidents in shopping malls this month, a lawmaker on Wednesday filed a bill seeking to require malls, groceries and banks to install X-ray security electronic scanners at their entrances.

Lanao del Sur Rep. Mohammed Hussein Pangandaman filed House Bill (HB) 5342 mandating business establishments to have these devices to enable security officers and guards to inspect people’s belongings without making any physical contact.

"Mall goers have gone through security checks before entering these shopping establishments. A lot have experienced annoyance, and even frustration when they submit themselves to inspections," Pangandaman said in the bill’s explanatory note.

Pangandaman, who was accused of mauling a security guard earlier this month, added that he filed the measure to ensure that security officers will be able to perform inspections thoroughly.

"We cannot just make these guards responsible for these kinds of events because of lack of training and gadgets to attend to their duties," he said.

okay lang og things ang e scan but if apil ang taw, then that would be an invasion of my privacy.

If someone wants to commit a crime inside a mall such as shoot someone or bomb something, they can. It's not how many scanners or metal detectors we put, its the efficiency of the people manning those equipments that's important. That bill will only make those businessmen selling those equipments richer, thus filling the pockets of the author of the bill. Just my two cents

Example: kanang mga guardia nato daghan diha underpaid. if maayo palang nang sweldo sa mga guardia, naay sakto sa training regularly..aw madetect ra unta ni dayon (ideally).

Another example: kung ang kabataan naa palay saktong kwarta ang ginikanan,basin na busy pato sa laing butang kasya anang uyab2. unsaon taman nga ang mga ginikinan sakto raman ang sweldo para eskwela walay extra.

Hay, another bravo move sa atong mga politico.. tan-aw kaha nila daghan ang mga tourista malipay kung makita og X-ray machine sa Mall? since tourism raman lang na atong ipanghambog sa pinas..
