The NBA All-Stars are supposed to play two games in the Philippines -- one against the national team at the Araneta Coliseum on May l, the other against the PBA All-Stars in Mandaue City on April 27.

The PBA All-Star week will be staged in Cagayan de Oro City on April 27, 28 and 29.

Rodman will play alongside Alex English, Kevin Willis, Darryl Dawkins, Calvin Murphy, Sidney Moncrief and Otis Birdsong. Dawkins has conducted a couple of basketball clinics in Manila while Murphy was part of the NBA-Salem team that visited the Philippines back in the '70s. Mario will be paying the entire group $300,000 for the goodwill tour.

According to Mario, Calvin hasn't changed basically, although he has gained weight. "Who's gonna guard him?" he asked with a straight face.

Question: Will Dennis Rodman's father, Philander, who he hasn't seen for ages, try to touch base with him? Philander is married to a Filipina and has long settled in the Philippines.

From what I heard, Dennis is completely averse to a reunion with his father.

The big question is: Will Team RP bannered by PBA All-Stars stand a chance against the bunch of NBA oldies? Rodman (aged 44), Moncrief (4, Dawkins (49), Birdsong (50), English (52) and Murphy (57)?

But what might have annoyed Rodman most was when he ate budbod, a kind of rice cake, which was served to the guests, unaware that he still had to peel off the banana leaves wrapped around the delicacy.

Rodman walked out without saying a word after the incident.

Coming along with Rodman were Alex English, Darryl Dawkins, Otis Birdsong, Calvin Murphy and Sidney Moncrief. NBA hopefuls who are also members of the team are NBA Developmental League’s Tedd Wofferson, Kareem Reed, Marion Allen and John Walkerson.

It took Rodman and company almost 30 minutes to get off the bus shortly after arriving at the Mandaue City Hall grounds.
Rodman and the other NBA Legends wanted the local organizers to sign a waiver to guarantee their safety.
