Default Norwegian Cotton Candy Sends Your Pocket to Cloud 9

Norwegian Cotton Candy Sends Your Pocket to Cloud 9 by VR-Zone.com

New Norwegian startup FXI wants to make its mark with what it calls 'Cotton Candy'. This 21 gram device the size of a flash drive can convert any display or TV with HDMI port to a cloud-client. You can even boot your PC or notebook with it, and get on to the cloud.

Cotton Candy is a compact embedded computer powered by ARM Cortex-A9 1.20 GHz dual-core processor, with ARM Mali-400MP quad-core GPU, 1 GB of RAM, micro-SDHC card slot for add-on storage, and connectivity options that include WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth EDR. That's some serious hardware for a device this small, comparable with high-end smartphones.

The possibilities are endless. Plug the Cotton Candy to your TV, connect a wireless keyboard and mouse that use Bluetooth or WiFi, and your cloud client is ready to go. An Android-powered smartphone can also be used as an input device. Cotton Candy runs Android by default, but it can also be configured to come with Ubuntu (Linux) pre-loaded.

The device can also be plugged into a desktop or notebook PC. Simply make your PC boot from it like you'd boot from a USB flash drive. The installed operating system will quickly configure itself to your PC and get you onto the cloud.

Measuring about 8 x 2.5 x 1 cm (L x W x H), and weighing as low as 21 grams, the FXI Cotton Candy is slared for Q2 2012. It is expected to be priced under US $200.
