    Istoryans,

i would really need ur help on this especially those who are into IT gyud! i plan to send a VOIP type Home Video Phone at home (cebu) for my family however, to let it work at its best it will need a minimum speed of at least 3Mbps. we have globe lines already and i was told the current speed is only 384Kbps. who among the cebu's best internet providers who can provide me this service?

i tried to read here regarding PLDT, Globe lines etc..and surf as well on their sites ...but m more confused! Please HELP ME, FIND THE RYT PROVIDER that cud offer me the appropriate speed and pls. give idea on the monthly costs too.

i will appreciate ALL UR ASSISTANCE on this issue! the sooner ur responses the sooner i can buy the phone. i just want my parents to see how my daughter is growing up even she is far from her grandparents!!!

Do you need a 3mbps upload and download speed? Be careful because most residential plans here in the Philippines advertise 3mbps connection but the truth is 3mbps down then 512kbps upload speeds. So you better clarify with the ISP if you need both upload and download speeds to be 3mbps. Good luck!

i guess depende sa location sa inyu lugar sis. kay common complaints (in threads/topics here) are location based. if bati ang location (hinay ang coverage sa ISP) bati ang connection

If you need down- and upstream with the same speed, you would need symetric dsl. I believe bayantel offer that, but its very expensive.
For everything else, try pldt's 3mbps plan. Should be about 3 or more mbps down and about 700-900kbps upstream.

    i don't think u need 3Mbps for VoIP/Video. Pure, actual speed of 1Mbps up/down is good enough.
For free computer-to-computer connections, you can use Skype or Yahoo Messenger.

Kung webcam image quality imo go apas, 384 vs 100mbps makes zero difference, you need a better webcam and the correct video conference software for it.
