Senator Ramon Revilla wants to find out who uploaded the *** video of his half-brother of slain actor Ramgen Revilla and her girlfriend Janelle Manahan.
Manahan's lawyer Resty Mendoza said they are working with the office of Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr., a relative of Ramgen, to trace the culprit.
"Nakipagugnayan na kami. Nanawagan ang aking kasamahang abogado kay Sen. Revilla na author ng anti-voyeurism law, pinapa-trace namin sino nag-upload niyan sa Internet," Mendoza said in an interview on dzBB radio.
"Kung ma-trace namin kakasuhan namin ng karampatang kaso sa ating korte (Once we trace the culprit, we will charge him or her before the courts)," he added.
For his part, Sen. Revilla sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation in identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators.
"Sobrang pambababoy ang ginagawa nila sa kapatid ko. Karumal-dumal na nga ang pagkamatay ni Ramgen, sinisira pa nila ang pagkatao. Mas grabe pa ang pambababoy na ginagawa nila kay Janelle. Grabe na ang kanyang pinagdaanan, at pilit pa nilang niyuyurakan ang pagkababae nito ngayon," the senator said in a news release.
Mendoza said he suspects the video was uploaded to damage Manahan's credibility. Manahan had been admitted to the government's witness protection program.
As of Monday noon, an edited version of the video was still accessible on YouTube, with a link leading to the actual 54-second video.
The video showed Revilla and Manahan in an intimate moment, with Ramgen holding the camera that recorded the video.
Under Republic Act 9995, the Anti-Voyeurism Act of 2010, imprisonment of three to seven years and a fine of P100,000 to P500,000 can be imposed on violators.
Section 4 of the law prohibits taking photo or video coverage of a person or group of persons performing sexual act or any similar activity or to capture an image of the private area of a person/s such as the naked or undergarment clad genitals, public area, buttocks or female breast without the consent of the person/s involved and under circumstances in which the person/s has/have a reasonable expectation of privacy;
It also penalizes copying or reproducing, or "broadcasting" such photo or video or recording of sexual act or any similar activity with or without consideration.
"This means that every person who downloads, copies and sends the video is guilty of committing the offense, regardless if they were the original uploaders," Sen. Revilla said. - VVP, GMA News
