    BBC Sherlock

Sherlock is a British television series that presents a contemporary update of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories. It was created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson. After an unbroadcast pilot in 2009, the first series of three 90-minute episodes was transmitted on BBC One and BBC HD in July and August 2010, with a second series of three episodes first broadcast in January 2012. A third series has been commissioned and will reportedly air in 2013. The series has been sold to over 180 territories. - Sherlock (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shown in the Philippines on Cable Channel Sony AXN TV.

The Only Consulting Detective Sherlock Holmes

Brilliant, aloof and almost entirely lacking in social graces.
Sherlock is a unique young man with a mind like a 'racing engine'. Without problems to solve, that mind will tear itself to pieces and the more bizarre and baffling the problems the better. He has set himself up as the world's only consulting detective, whom the police grudgingly accept as their superior. - BBC ONE Sherlock Holmes
Boffin' Sherlock Holmes' blog: The Science of Deduction
    Dr. John Watson

    Brave, resourceful, practical.
Previously an army doctor, shattered by service in Afghanistan, John Watson discovered a new lease of life when he met Sherlock Holmes. Although often infuriated by Sherlock's cold, detached manner, he also sees his flatmate as his best friend. - BBC ONE John Watson
Dr. Watson's blog: The Personal Blog of Dr. John H. Watson

    Other Characters:
Mycroft Holmes portrayed by Mark Gatiss

Sherlock's older brother but there's little brotherly love there.
Mycroft works for - and occasionally IS - the British government and often calls on Sherlock to assist when events threaten national security. Uptight and somewhat cold, he is constantly bemused by Sherlock and John's unconventional lifestyle. BBC ONE Mycroft Holmes
Detective Inspector Lestrade portrayed by Rupert Graves

The best that Scotland Yard has to offer - but he knows that Sherlock is better.
World-weary with a dry sense of humour, Lestrade is the only member of the police force who Sherlock has any respect for. He's not afraid to risk the ridicule of his colleagues by calling in Sherlock to examine a case. - BBC ONE Detective Inspector Lestrade
Mrs. Hudson portrayed by Una Stubbs

Sherlock and John's landlady - not their housekeeper!
Mrs Hudson adores her boys and they love her right back. Initially bemused by strange events at 221B Baker Street, she now takes them in her stride. - BBC ONE Mrs. Hudson
Molly Hooper portrayed by Louise Brealey

A laboratory technician at St Bartholomew's Hospital
Molly is far more comfortable with the dead than the living. But don't mistake her lack of social skills for a lack of intelligence - she's good at her job and, in some ways, far more perceptive about the real Sherlock than he is himself. BBC ONE Molly Hooper

    Special Mentions:
James Moriarty portrayed by Andrew Scott
Irene Adler portrayed by Lara Pulver

I saw the first series last year and loved it. Each episode is as long as a full-length movie, but I was disappointed to find they only had three episodes then.
series 2 is coming out this year though. yey!

I absolutely love this series! I went totally crazy over Sherlock last month, I think I watched all 6 episodes at least 3 times each. I changed my ringtone from Game of Thrones to BBC Sherlock. I watched the Oscar-nominated film War Horse mainly because Benedict Cumberbatch is in it (sadly, he just had a minor role). And I am much much more excited over The Hobbit because Benedict Cumberbatch AND Martin Freeman are in it. XD

Benedict Cumberbatch portrayed Stephen Hawking in Hawking (TV Movie 2004). He was also Peter Guillam in the masterpiece Tinker, Soldier, Tailor, Spy (2011) opposite Gary Oldman's George Smiley. He is the voice behind Smaug and The Necromancer on the latest LOTR movie The Hobbit.

Martin Freeman won a BAFTA Supporting Actor award (2011) for his portrayal of Dr. John Watson in BBC's Sherlock. He also starred in The Office original UK as Tim Canterbury. He is Bilbo Baggins of the movie The Hobbit.

BBC's SHERLOCK won the BEST DRAMA SERIES in BAFTA 2011. A win well-deserved.

Only 3 episodes per series. Finished the first and second series. A third series has been greenlit--we'll have to wait for another year.

I believe Cumberbatch's Holmes is closer to the book Holmes, though set in current times, than Downey's Holmes. The series alludes to the Holmes-Watson bromance. I myself thought there was something between them, when I read the books years ago, though Watson has been married and left a widower and Holmes may have been asexual like Hitler.

Plus, you get to see Sherlock wear his signature deerstalker. No pipes on Sherlock though--he's on nicotine patches.

I thought you were going to say that you changed your ringtone to the same ringtone Sherlock used in "A Scandal in Belgravia"--the "Aaahh" ringtone.

Haha, this was the first choice. But I don't want to get weird looks in the office so I chose the less scandalous route. XD

The show keeps the fangirls happy with jokes about them being mistaken for gay. Hehe.
John: "For the record, if anyone out there still cares — I'm not actually gay." Lol'd at this scene.

Speaking of Molly, Lestrade was totally checking her out when she took off her coat at the Christmas party. With Lestrade's marriage on the rocks, I kinda want the two of them to hook up. XD
