Boom-Boom match co-main feature in August boxing card
Former world-title challenger Rey “Boom Boom" Bautista will meet Eden Marquez of Novojoa town, Mexico on August 30 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel, Philboxing.com reported recently.
The Bautista-Marquez fight will be the co-main event of the boxing card that will feature the title defense of World Boxing Organization (WBO) champ Donnie Nietes’ against Eddy Castro of Nicaragua.
The match is for the World Boxing Organization Intercontinental super-bantamweight title.
Bautista, a native of Bohol, was a highly touted title prospect until he met a disastrous first-round knockout loss to Daniel Ponce de Leon in his first world-championship match in August 2007. The 22-year-old fighter has won his last two fights since.
Bautista carries a 25-1 won-loss record, while Marquez’s win-loss-draw slate stands at 16-1-2.
