I've been looking into water-based PU leather for medical mattresses, and while the "eco-friendly" label is appealing, I'm seriously questioning its practicality in a healthcare setting. We're talking about surfaces that need to withstand constant cleaning with harsh disinfectants, potential bodily fluids, and the sheer wear and tear of daily hospital use.
Does anyone have real-world data on its long-term durability compared to traditional vinyl or PU? I'm worried about premature cracking, peeling, or even chemical leaching from the supposedly "safer" water-based process, especially given the vulnerable patient population.
