- Biography:
- a large, reddish-purple berry grown in northern california by rudolph boysen. walter knott commercially cultivated the berry in southern california and sold them at his farm stand. people kept buying the large, tasty berries. knott called them boysenberries. his family's small restaurant and pie business eventually grew into knott's berry farm. mrs knott made boysenberry preserves for knott's berry farm and the rest is history.
