Best Western Plus Lex Cebu, one of the world’s largest hotel chain, offers the best in everything including their mouthwatering cuisines.
The hotel’s Executive Chef Glendo C. Lomoljo introduced us to a few of their delectable dishes of Western influence. Chef Glen, who worked in a cruise ship for nine years before joining Best Western, aims to create different meals inspired by the cuisines of different countries he went to such as America, Canada, Mexico, Greece and Italy.
We started our meal with their popular appetizers, namely, Paprikan Chicken in Chilli Flakes (pulled chicken fried and crisped with paprika and cayenne), Smoked Salmon Carpaccio (thinly sliced lemon in zesty lemon dressing topped in fresh lettuce), their bestselling dish Blue Lagoon Buffalo Wings (fried chicken wings glazed with a choice of sweet honey bourbon or spicy sauce) and Shrimp and Potato Salad (baked potato topped with poached prawns in pesto cream).
Next comes the soup. We had Clam Chowder, a popular American creamy clam soup simmered with vegetables and mushrooms, and Zuppa de Mare, an Italian seafood tomato-based soup seasoned with special herbs and spices. The entrées include Grilled Thai Chicken, a spicy grilled chicken served with Asian Green veggies and their most famous US Angus Beef seasoned with special herbs.
When it comes to Italian food, nothing beats pizza and pasta so we had their unique Bismark Pizza, a crusty breakfast pizza topped with ham, bacon and sausage with egg in the middle, and Tagtiatelli Salmone, tagtiatelli pasta sautéed with salmon. We also added their Monte Cristo Sandwich, a triple-layered sandwich filled with bacon, ham, chicken and cheese served with fries.
Of course, a meal is not complete without desserts. We had theirSoufflé de Chocolat, Mexican-inspired baked soufflé with chocolate sauce and every Pinoy’s favorite Halo-Halo. They also serve popular Filipino dishes such as Crispy Pata, Tokwa’t Baboy and Pochero.
