The anticipation is spiking as the inaugural season of the CIB.O Volleyball League gears up for its opening, set to spike off on Saturday, February 24, at the prestigious Cebu Port Authority Sports Facilities. With a commitment to setting up solid blocks of community engagement through sports and a powerful drive for healthy competition, the league is primed to smash its way into the spotlight, serving up a thrilling spectacle that's bound to leave a lasting impression on Cebu's IT-BPM Industry and the local sports scene.
In the Opening Press Conference and Media Briefing held last February 21, 2022, at the Piyesta Hall of Teleperformance Cebu IT Park, CIB.O Vice President and Sports Committee Chair Darwin John "DJ" Moises emphasized the tournament's significance. "We organized the first ever CIB.O Volleyball League 2024: All-IT BPM Conference because we believe engaging in sports can strengthen bonds, improve communication, and promote a healthy work-life balance. This activity aims to enhance team dynamics within the IT-BPM sector, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, communication, relationships, and physical well-being in achieving organizational goals.
Moises also expressed that the Volleyball Tournament serves as a prelude to a series of engagements and events spread throughout the year, with the CIB.O annual event Transformation Summit 2024 on the 2nd quarter, a Basketball Tournament on the 3rd, and to showcase the ability of the non-athletic folks in the industry, a talent competition on the 4th quarter of 2024. "With Cebu having some 300 companies employing around 250,000 people," Moises explained, "CIB.O intends to have more diverse activities, once again, to balance work and well-being."
Moreover, CIB.O Executive Director Buddy Villasis shared that "The CIB.O VolleyballLeague is CIB.O's commitment to the IT-BPM industry of providing more value-added services to its members, apart from the ongoing projects and initiatives relating to Talent Development, Innovation, Investment Promotions among others.
Everyone is welcome to join the organization- to make an impact in shaping the IT-BPM industry together."
Meanwhile, the Press Conference host, Teleperformance Cebu IT Park Site Leader Aurora Navarro, said: "We look forward to seeing your electrifying serves, thrilling spikes, and moments of pure sportsmanship. This tournament promises to be an exciting and memorable event for everyone, much as we at Teleperformance are honored to host this tourney." She added: At Teleperformance, exceptional workplace culture is the foundation for outstanding performance. We cultivate a dynamic environment that fosters trust, respect, fairness, and a sense of belonging that ultimately translates into the larger community, as in the case of this
tournament."
Innodata Knowledge Services Inc.'s Project Manager, Vladimir Zulueta, signified their company's support. "We, at Innodata, were also the first to sign up and say yes to this tournament. As we value work-life balance and engaging yet meaningful activities for our employees, we are definitely in support of CIB.O's vision for this
tournament."
CIB.O Executives attended the press conference, the Secretariat and Sports Committee, representatives from its tournament partners, Innodata Knowledge Services Inc. and Teleperformance Philippines, and representatives from the 18 participating companies.
The excitement will serve with the league's opening ceremony at 1300H on Saturday, February 24. Attendees can anticipate a day packed with festivities, including player introductions, special guest appearances, and live entertainment.
