• Metro Retail Stores livens up local fiestas with MSME offerings

Riding on the celebratory vibe of town fiestas to promote local industries in areas where it operates, Metro Retail Stores Group, Inc. (MRSGI) recently opened its GO LOKAL Bayanihang Metro Caravan in Mandaue, Cebu, and Lucena, Quezon, coinciding with the Mantawi and Pasayahan festivals, respectively.

Opening the GO LOKAL Bayanihang Metro Caravan at Metro Supermarket-Pacific Mall Mandaue, Cebu is, from left: Hope Melgar, DTI Region 7 Assistant Director; Ma Elena Arbon, DTI Region 7 Director; Manuel Alberto, MRSGI President, and Chief Operating Officer; and Glenda Navares, Regional Manager, MRSGI Store Operations for
      the Visayas.

These celebrations provide opportunities to showcase local products and services, particularly those in the health and nutrition, agribusiness, and food sectors managed by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). MRSGI's partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) further provides impetus to help these businesses find their niche in the market.

The GO LOKAL Bayanihang Metro Caravan aims further to push local MSME products to the mainstream public. Metro is equipping entrepreneurs with space and kiosks in select Metro stores in various areas across Luzon and Visayas to showcase and promote high-quality home-grown products for one month during town fiestas.

DTI has specially curated MSMEs to be featured in MRSGI's supermarkets in these localities. At Metro Supermarket-Pacific Mall Mandaue, these include LemonCito, Rachael's Homemade, Bakerlane Bakery, Hinam-is Sweet Sitsirya, Tuburan Coffee, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Wodd PH, Yssa's Handicraft, and Metro house brands Gasa and Tropical.

Meanwhile, enterprises featured at Metro Supermarket-Pacific Mall Lucena include The Soap Farm, Em-ar Handicrafts Manufacturing, M.M. Salcedo's Marketing, C and H Cosmetics, Pasciolco International Inc., Greenlife Coconut Products, De Neubrandz Corp., Ccocodeli Coconut Products, and KXC Enterprises.
