An excuse to write.
I made a short lecture on identifying objects in the night sky with the help of a desktop planetarium (sky simulation) program called Stellarium (Stellarium), focusing on the planet Venus after sunset. Towards the end, I also talk a bit about the Constellation Orion, Sirius and the Orion Nebula. Video here: YouTube - Using Stellarium to Identify Bright Objects in the Night Sky -RODION

Woke up at 9am. Cleaned my room. Went to the laundry. Had brunch at Sinangag Station Juana Osmena. Watched a funeral procession along Gorordo, while I sat down and waited for the grindsman (the guys you see along Gorordo, near the Sudlon area, guys that sit down in front of small motors that spin around and around and make these deafening screechy noises when they put metal against these grindstones) to finish cutting and grinding my replica ...

Sometimes I find myself muttering the word over and ...
This universe never ceases to amaze me. While inside Chowking's second floor (at JY Square), anxiously waiting for the skies to clear up over Western Cebu (because I was planning to take photos of the partial solar eclipse), a few points of realization came over me. First, it's so easy to keep track of (and plan for) celestial events, using say, a computer simulation, because the enormity of the celestial bodies involved allows them to just trudge merrily along their paths as dictated ...
