I'm going on a week-long vacation around various places Mindanao, to area that has suffered bombings, mortar and artillery attacks, IED's (Improvised Explosive Devices) planted under bridges, and even an earthquake recently. Sure feels good to get back home again. -RODION
2009 will be the International Year of Astronomy. In 1608, Dutch spectacle makers Hans Lippershey, Zacharias Janssen, and Jacob Metius of Alkmaar crafted a device to enable "far seeing". A year later, in 1609, Galileo pointed it to the night sky, and telescope-based observation (and the word "telescope") was born. Now, 400 years after Galileo first saw the wonders of ...
6pm...got to go home now. It has been a stressful day for me. I packed some things to be done at home since it would be a long vacation. Finally, I would have the much needed vacation that I need. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday ever since I was a kid. I look forward to it every single time. As I rode the jeepney on my way home, I can't help but notice some kids who are busy caroling even inside the jeepney, These few days, I have been busy finishing for the dreaded deadlines ...

I saw the remake of the 1951 classic sci-fi film "The Day the Earth Stood Still" last night. As a fan of the original version, and as an amateur astronomer, this is what I can share to you iStoryans--if you're looking for an "interesting" sci-fi or action flick (i.e. the likes of Transformers or Iron Man), then DON'T watch this movie--it's not for you, and you will probably NOT enjoy it. However, if you're a fan of classic sci-fi, and the original ...
